Purchase Ledger Apprentice

We are seeking a dedicated Purchase Ledger Apprentice to join a busy finance team. Reporting to the Finance Supervisor, you will manage the company’s purchase ledger, ensuring all purchase invoices are recorded accurately. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain practical experience while pursuing relevant qualifications in finance.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Accurately input purchase ledger invoices into the accounting system.
  • Verify invoice costs against expected amounts and ensure managerial approval before payment.
  • Reconcile supplier invoices and investigate any discrepancies.
  • Assist in the supplier payment process and support the processing of expense claims and credit card transactions.
  • Perform routine calculations to generate analyses and reports as requested.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to other areas of the finance team, including sales ledger and nominal postings.
  • Handle general administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, archiving, and shredding.
  • Assist with office duties, including answering the phone and sorting post.
  • Take on additional duties as required to support the finance team.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial data.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and personal development within a finance role.
