Sustainability Manager

Full time, Permanent

We're looking for a Sustainability Manager at MSC Group UK to be responsible for the management and development of the business sustainability management framework within all MSC UK entities.

The purpose of this role is to drive sustainability throughout our national offices and depots. This is an autonomous role that will own and develop the MSC UK Group’s Sustainability Strategy to help us reach net zero by 2050.

They will lead in the Sustainability Governance Structure and will liaise with their Sustainability compatriots in Geneva HQ, Medlog and our 3rd Party Suppliers.

Skills and experience we’re looking for

  • An educational qualification in Sustainability with at least 5 years of Experience in a Sustainability role with a large organisation
  • Experience in decarbonization in the logistics sector, and particularly the HGV road transport industry
  • Knowledge of Regulatory landscapes like UK SDS and ISSB.
  • Understanding of the UK SECR reporting landscape
  • Experience in preparing Annual Sustainability reports for a large organisation
  • A good understanding of EU CSRD and ETS regulations
  • Ability to identify carbon and energy hotspots and act on them to reduce emissions
  • Understanding of SBTi, Ecovadis and other external certifications.
  • Experience in carbon data management, GHG Protocol and GRI reporting standards
  • Excellent IT, communication and report writing skills

Desirable:

  • Project management skills and experience managing complex, long-term workstreams and initiatives
  • Training delivery experience, preferably in environmental or sustainability disciplines
  • Auditing experience, especially based around ISO frameworks such as 26000, 14001 and 50001
  • Added value certification such as health & safety, environment, auditing and security
  • Project management and change management experience

What you can expect from the role

  • Close liaison with MSC Geneva HQ through their Sustainability and Environmental Teams
  • Responsibility for monthly reporting to meet MSC UK and MSC Geneva’s strategic sustainability targets
  • Manage current CSR projects and support in developing long-term high impact CSR projects
  • Conduct a Materiality analysis to understand the material topics and prepare action plan to address them
  • Chair the MSC UK Sustainability Working Group and attend the MSC UK Sustainability Steering Committee
  • Lead the drive to a positive sustainability culture and ethos through innovative and leading-edge thinking
  • Single point of contact for MSC UK Sustainability to all internal and external stakeholders
  • Implementation of an IT Tool to measure, monitor and report GHG emissions across Scope1, 2 and 3 for our UK business
  • Help in calculating the carbon emissions report for customers for their transactions with us using our carbon tool
