Operative (Waste)

General Operative (Waste) | Irvine | 13.99 per hour

My client a leading Waste management company have an urgent opening for an Operative (Waste) to join their team on a permanent contract.

Role Objective: To safely carry out operations as prescribed under the clients working procedures to effectively collect, segregate, sort and generally manage the customers waste in accordance with the clients guidelines.

Key Task and Responsibilities:
? Ensure routine collection and disposal of waste containers from around the site.
? Safe use of forklift truck and drum handling attachments.
? Maintain good housekeeping and safe storage of all wastes.
? Scheduling of skips and wheelie bin collections.
? Supplying new drums and containers to plant areas.
? Palletising and labelling of waste containers.
? Assist in the removal from site of all waste materials thereby reducing stock build up.
? Complete daily / weekly vehicle and equipment check sheets as required.
? Signing of duty of care and hazardous waste consignment notes.
? Routine liaison with manager on operational and safety aspects of work.

Additional Responsibilities:
? Contribute to the behavioural safety and near miss reporting requirements.
? Assist in the completion of other tasks associated with the contract e.g. housekeeping.
? Support other team members in their roles when necessary.
? To be a point of contact when the manager is not on site.

Skills and qualifications:
? Valid counterbalance Forklift licence.
? Current driving licence.
? Ability to work on your own and use your own initiative.
? Experience of working with hazardous chemicals is useful, but not essential as training can be provided.
