TeacherActive is proud to be working with an Specialist College for students with autism, with their search for a SEND Teaching Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity for you to work with a warm and positive further education site, who are focused on the development of the young adults within the site, with a specific approach to children with Autism and ADHD traits. The college has students, with a wide range of additional needs, looking for somebody who can provide support for the students with their future independance outside of education. The independent school encourages the students aged 16+ to develop both socially and emotionally at their own pace, whilst following the ASDAN qualifications. The ideal SEND Teaching Assistant will undertake the schools vision to cultivate a learning environment that embodies their values of collaboration, trust and ambition. You will show a strong commitment and a pro-active attitude towards the students education development and progression as they undergo their broad and balanced education.

This provision are helping the students prepare for adulthood through their comprehensive curriculum, teaching the students practical, functional life skills, personal care, communication and social interaction. The school are searching for the right SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team of strong and passionate educators focused on helping the students with their supported learning through personalised teaching and differentiated lessons based on each students needs. The SEND Teaching Assistant must have a strong knowledge or experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, specifically Autism / ASD, Severe Learning Difficulties / SLD, and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties / PMLD. Our long-standing relationship with schools mean that we can find you the position that is right for you, giving you guidance and advice along the way. This Teaching Assistant role starts as soon as possible and is a Long-Term position with an opportunity to go permanent. We help Teaching Assistants find their next role in a supportive school environment to help them progress in their teaching journey.

The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have:

  • Experience with SEND students as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant
  • Excellent 1:1 management
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification, not a necessity
  • Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service
