About Us:

A wonderful primary school in Hounslow are seeking an SEN Lead to join their Early Years team, leading provision and support for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is an exciting opportunity to advance your career within education and join an impressive and highly regarded school.

Purpose and Aims of the Role:

  • Empower early years practitioners to meet the diverse needs of all children in their care.
  • Provide consultation, observational assessments, and advice to create inclusive learning environments.
  • Foster strong links with education, health, and social care professionals, ensuring appropriate early provision for children with SEND.
  • Support the smooth transition of children with SEND into compulsory schooling.
  • Deliver high-quality training and ongoing support to teachers and early years practitioners.
  • Work in partnership with educational psychologists to deliver a multi-agency support package.
  • Promote effective communication and shared dialogue with parents, ensuring their involvement in decision-making.
  • Provide guidance on referrals to additional services such as speech and language therapy or occupational therapy.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the SEND provision within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), ensuring compliance with the statutory framework for children aged 0-5.
  • Support the implementation of the SEND Code of Practice in line with safeguarding and welfare requirements.
  • Work closely with the setting's SENCo to review, develop, and implement SEND policies.
  • Collaborate with all staff to ensure the successful inclusion of children with SEND.
  • Deliver bespoke support and guidance to early years settings and practitioners to promote best practices in SEND education.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Experience working with children in an early years setting, particularly those with SEND.
  • A strong understanding of the EYFS and the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with staff, external professionals, and parents.
  • Ability to deliver training, provide advice, and carry out observational assessments.
  • Passion for creating inclusive, supportive learning environments.
