Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Behaviour Mentor to join our vibrant secondary school in Islington. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with behavioural difficulties, helping them to develop positive coping strategies and succeed in an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with students who require behavioural support, providing 1:1 and small group interventions.
Develop and implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
Build strong and trusting relationships with students, acting as a role model and mentor.
Liaise with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to create and maintain individual behaviour plans (IBPs).
Assist in the development of tailored strategies to support students' social, emotional, and behavioural progress.
Monitor student progress and provide feedback to relevant staff members.
Promote a safe and inclusive school environment.
Person Specification:
Essential:
Previous experience working with students with behavioural difficulties in a school or similar setting.
Strong behaviour management skills and a good understanding of strategies to support students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Ability to engage and motivate students, fostering a positive attitude towards learning.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable:
Experience working within a secondary school setting.
Knowledge of restorative approaches to behaviour management.
Relevant qualifications in behaviour management, psychology, youth work, or related fields.
