Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Behaviour Mentor to join our vibrant secondary school in Islington. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with behavioural difficulties, helping them to develop positive coping strategies and succeed in an educational setting.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with students who require behavioural support, providing 1:1 and small group interventions.

  • Develop and implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning.

  • Build strong and trusting relationships with students, acting as a role model and mentor.

  • Liaise with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to create and maintain individual behaviour plans (IBPs).

  • Assist in the development of tailored strategies to support students' social, emotional, and behavioural progress.

  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to relevant staff members.

  • Promote a safe and inclusive school environment.



Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Previous experience working with students with behavioural difficulties in a school or similar setting.

  • Strong behaviour management skills and a good understanding of strategies to support students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

  • Ability to engage and motivate students, fostering a positive attitude towards learning.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.

  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a secondary school setting.

  • Knowledge of restorative approaches to behaviour management.

  • Relevant qualifications in behaviour management, psychology, youth work, or related fields.
