Are you passionate about supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)? GSL Education are looking for a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic and supportive school in Islington. This role is specifically focused on providing support for students with ASD, helping them thrive in an inclusive educational environment.

Responsibilities of the SEN TA:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with ASD.
  • Help implement individualised learning plans and strategies tailored to each student’s needs.
  • Support students in classroom activities and during break times.
  • Assist with personal care needs where necessary.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment by promoting student engagement.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create the best learning experience for students.
  • Use a variety of strategies, including visual aids, communication tools, and social skills techniques, to support learning.
  • Assist in monitoring and tracking students' progress and development.

Requirements of the SEN TA:

  • Experience working with children with ASD is essential.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students with special educational needs.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well within a team.
  • Experience in working within an SEN environment is preferred.
  • A relevant qualification in special education, childcare, or a related field (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3) would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Updated Service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
