We are seeking temporary Residential Childcare Officers with experience of working in a Secure setting and/or with young people subject to DOLS orders to come and join our team in Jersey and assist us to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people.

Children and young people are at the heart of everything we do, and we have high expectations for those professionals supporting them. Our Secure Children's Home, which accommodates up to 6 children and young people, provides care for those on Secure Accommodation Orders and Youth Detention Orders. As a Residential Child Care Officer, you will work closely with a dedicated team to ensure each child and young person is cared for within a safe, stimulating environment that promotes their physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development

Successful candidates will be committed to working therapeutically and restoratively with children, while demonstrating a clear child centred approach together with sound decision-making and risk assessment skills.

Residential Child Care Officer - £24 Ltd

Unsocial hours or overtime payments are not paid for agency residential workers. Where there is requirement to work on a Bank/Public Holiday they will receive 2.0 x hourly rate for the hours worked.

Sleep in is defined as a period in which employees must stay at the place of work throughout the night, to be available to provide care for service users.

Employees may be woken during the night and be required to undertake work.

Standby payments are made at one quarter of the hourly rate. (£6.875)

50 % increase to the hourly rate is made when the employee is woken and required to undertake work. This means that they receive three eights (0.375 x) of their hourly rate.(£10.31)

Job mandatory request:

  • Minimum 5 years residential childcare experience
  • NVQ 3 or equivalent
  • Clean Driving Licence in manual transmission
  • Clear DBS (preferably on DBS update service)
  • We pay for your candidates travel expenses to Jersey at start of contract and end of contract.
  • 3-month contract with possible extension
  • Immediate starts required
