Experience in stress analysis and hand calculations is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimise detailed 2D and 3D designs using SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software
  • Design components and systems used in heavy industry, including cranes, structural steel frameworks, and material handling equipment
  • Perform stress analysis and hand calculations to ensure the integrity and safety of designs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
  • Ensure all designs meet relevant industry standards and regulations
  • Troubleshoot and provide technical support for hydraulic, gearbox, and motor systems
  • Work closely with suppliers and the manufacturing team to ensure accurate implementation of designs
  • Report directly to the Engineering Manager on project progress and offer innovative design improvements
  • Participate in design reviews and propose cost-reduction initiatives without compromising on quality or safety

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, gearboxes, and motors
  • Experience in the design of heavy industrial equipment such as cranes and structural steel frameworks
  • Familiarity with stress analysis and performing hand calculations
  • Strong understanding of material properties and mechanical design principles
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Proven experience as a Design Engineer, preferably within the heavy industry or material handling sector

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing company that works on major industrial projects, offering excellent career growth and development potential.

The salary is £50,000 - £60,000 per annum with regular reviews, and working hours are Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm.
