Insight Executive Group are exclusively partnering with AGH Solutions in the recruitment of key appointments within their Estates Engineering Service. We are currently looking for an Operations Engineer - (Electrical bias), with a salary of £40,000 - £45,000 depending on experience, based at the Airedale General Hospital.

AGH Solutions is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust. The company provides a wide range of services from traditional facilities management and estate maintenance to capital projects, sterile services, wheelchair engineering and procurement, for clients within and beyond the NHS.

Main Duties:

  • Supporting Senior Officers within the Directorate, ensuring that maintenance operations, repairs, revenue schemes and minor improvement works are completed promptly.
  • Balancing the priorities and demands of defect and breakdown work;
  • Responsible for the selection, deployment and management in all respects of the resources necessary to complete the works/projects delegated, subject only to cost limitations specified by the Operations Manager, including direct labour, contract labour, materials and stores etc.
  • Line management responsibility for Supervisors and trade staff.
  • The operational nature of the post will require a variety of schemes/maintenance activities/repairs to be carried out in periods that fall outside normal working hours. This could be due to an emergency, major breakdown, sudden system failure, access difficulties, untoward occurrences or for other operational reasons.
  • The post holder shall be prepared to work at unusual hours when required in relation to such situations/occurrences to ensure that required safety measures are in place and that appropriate levels of management and supervision are present.
  • Where situations are of an urgent or emergency nature the post holder will be put under considerable pressure and will be expected to discharge their duties in a calm and professional manner.
  • The management, safe operation and maintenance and repair of complex electrical lighting and power distribution systems/installations and work of a higher complexity as may be defined under a formal Permit to Work document.
  • The management, safe operation and maintenance of electrical installations and testing to 16th Edition of IEE Regulations and the testing of portable appliances.

Personal Specifications:

  • HNC/HND in a relevant discipline, i.e. Electrical Engineering.
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation.
  • Knowledge of building service types, components and applications, i.e., ventilation, refrigeration, heating, hot and cold water, medical gas, pressure systems.
  • Demonstrates a positive and enthusiastic attitude to work with an ability to look beyond the immediate horizons of job, task or situation.
