We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer (Maintenance) to join our clients dynamic team in the plastics industry. This role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment to ensure optimal production efficiency. The position operates on a 4 on 4 off rotating shift schedule, requiring flexibility and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment and systems to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical failures and breakdowns on production equipment, including injection moulding machines, extruders, and conveyors.
  • Conduct routine inspections and predictive maintenance to identify potential issues before they cause equipment failure.
  • Collaborate with production and quality control teams to ensure machinery operates efficiently and meets production specifications.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records, including work performed, parts used, and time spent on tasks.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Provide technical support and training to junior maintenance staff and operators.

Qualifications:

  • Education: relevant Mechanical Engineering qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the plastics industry but not a requirement.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical components.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Familiarity with PLCs and automated control systems is a plus.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in mechanical maintenance and safety are desirable.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in various environmental conditions.
