BuyerKeighley, West Yorkshire£35,000 - £39,000 (dep on experience) + benefitsOverview:This is a leading manufacturing business within their niche, working with businesses in the food industry worldwide. They provide precision machinery that is highly-respected and recognised for its quality. As they continue to grow, they are now looking for a Buyer with experience in direct materials procurement to join their team.Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate as the stand alone buyer in a fast-paced manufacturing business managing daily procurement tasks including RFQ's, purchase orders and supplier communication.
  • Work closely with the Procurement Director in carrying out reviews and evaluation of existing supplier networks to look for opportunities to drive improvements and develop and refine agreements.
  • Review and evaluate potential new suppliers to look for ways to continually improve procurement across the business.
  • Identify cost saving opportunities both through supplier development and contract negotiation.
  • Facilitate an improving OTIF rate.
  • Work closely with internal colleagues in engineering, finance and other areas to streamline the buying and supply process.
  • Reduce supplier delays and improve component lead times.
  • Manage the risk register and develop mitigation strategies.

Person Specification:

  • Possess existing experience in a buying role (minimum 3 years) preferably within a manufacturing / engineering environment.
  • Experience of working on procurement within a project-based organisation.
  • Have existing experience in direct materials buying.
  • Be able to demonstrate a track record in the strategic development of supplier networks both in the context of new suppliers and the development and improvement of relationships with existing suppliers.
  • Have experience in working in cross-functional teams.
  • Possess the skills to work with relevant MRP / ERP IT packages.
  • CIPS qualification pathway would be desirable but is not as important as well-developed experience.
