Our client, a leading civil engineering contractor, is seeking a highly skilled Site Engineer for an exciting freelance opportunity in Kelso, Scotland. The position will start in April and run for a duration of 4-8 months, offering the chance to work on a variety of civil engineering projects, including roads, drainage, and infrastructure.

About the Role:
As a Site Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise on site, ensuring the successful delivery of the project. You will work closely with the project team to manage site operations, carry out measurements and surveys, and ensure that all work complies with the relevant specifications, drawings, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the site, providing engineering support to ensure the project runs smoothly.
  • Set out and survey the site, ensuring accurate measurement and alignment of works.
  • Provide technical advice and resolve any engineering issues that arise during construction.
  • Monitor the quality of work, ensuring it meets the required standards and project specifications.
  • Assist with managing health and safety procedures and ensuring compliance on-site.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure the efficient delivery of materials and services.
  • Prepare site reports, daily logs, and other documentation as required.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction techniques, surveying, and site management.
  • Experience with setting out, GPS, and total stations.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and technical specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and site procedures.
  • Freelance or contract experience is highly desirable.
