Our client, a well-established civil engineering contractor, is seeking a highly experienced Project Manager for a freelance opportunity in Kelso, Scotland. The role is set to start in April and will run for 4-8 months, offering a chance to manage and deliver a range of civil engineering projects, including roads, drainage, and infrastructure works.

About the Role:
As a Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for the planning, execution, and successful delivery of the project. You will lead the project team, manage client relationships, and ensure that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the overall delivery of the civil engineering project from start to finish.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely delivery of milestones.
  • Oversee site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations on-site.
  • Manage budgets, costs, and procurement processes, ensuring the project remains within financial constraints.
  • Coordinate communication between all stakeholders, including clients, design teams, and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and clients.
  • Identify and manage project risks, implementing solutions to mitigate delays and cost overruns.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager in the civil engineering sector.
  • Strong background in managing large-scale infrastructure and civil engineering projects.
  • Experience in budget management, cost control, and procurement processes.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Freelance or contract experience is desirable.
