Located in a beautiful location just outside Kendal, they are a trusted partner for many local businesses and individuals. As the Practice Manager, you will oversee the delivery of a wide range of accountancy services to a diverse client portfolio, ensuring high standards and effective team management.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Conduct both virtual and face-to-face client meetings.
  • Manage a diverse client portfolio including preparing VAT returns and bookkeeping for a range of companies using various cloud software.
  • Complete P11d forms and handle HMRC queries and correspondence.
  • Offer complex tax advice and prepare annual accounts.
  • Complete self-assessment tax returns and manage HMRC audits or investigations.
  • Attend management meetings and represent the firm at business and networking events.
  • Oversee the workflow for the team, mentoring and coaching junior staff, and fostering their professional development.
  • Review team’s work and give final approval where required.
  • Provide ad hoc advisory help such as accounting systems, cash flow forecasting, VAT returns, year-end accounts, and onboarding new clients.
  • Act as an ambassador for the firm, promoting the highest standards of behaviour and supporting company objectives.
  • Commit to personal professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified or undertaking CIPP training or other relevant payroll qualifications.
  • Experience in payroll management with a strong understanding of payroll regulations, taxation, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of motivating and developing a team.
  • High attention to detail and proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with CRM systems.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
  • Advanced experience with CRM systems, including MDA.
