Site Manager (Temporary) - Roofing and Cladding Project

Position: Site Manager (Temporary)
Duration: Minimum 26 weeks (commencing late February 2025)
Location: Kendal, Cumbria
Working Hours: 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday (weekend working by special arrangement)



Project Overview:

A major project involving the provision and installation of new metal roofing and wall cladding for an existing industrial facility. This includes the installation of rainwater goods, in-plane rooflights, and a small area of Trespa feature cladding. The scope of work covers two separate units, with a total combined roof area of approximately 10,000 m and wall cladding of around 5,000 m. The work will involve both vertical and horizontal cladding, fixed to existing steelwork or over brickwork.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure all works are carried out safely and in accordance with risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
    • Confirm that all operatives are qualified to carry out their tasks (in cooperation with the Safety Manager).
    • Prepare point-of-work risk assessments as needed.
  • Quality and Installation:

    • Oversee that works are installed per specifications, design drawings, and schedules.
    • Complete QA record sheets as work progresses.
    • Ensure the project is completed on time, including managing phased handovers of work.
  • Site Operations:

    • Supervise plant safety checks and ensure necessary repairs or replacements are made.
    • Maintain daily site records, including operatives' names and tasks.
    • Ensure weekly timesheets are accurately completed and signed off by site foremen and sent to the office for payment.
    • Coordinate material and plant deliveries and off-hires.
  • Coordination and Reporting:

    • Report to the Contracts Director and liaise with the Company Safety Manager, Project Surveyor, and Design & Procurement Manager.
    • Arrange and coordinate site labor, in cooperation with the Contracts Director.
    • Undertake other reasonable tasks as requested by the Contracts Director.


Additional Information:

  • RAMS will be prepared by the Company Safety Manager, but point-of-work risk assessments will be prepared by the Site Manager.
  • Materials and plant will be ordered by office staff, though coordination for delivery and off-hires will be managed by the Site Manager.
  • Site Labour will be arranged by the Contracts Director but is expected to be coordinated by the Site Manager.


Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager, particularly in roofing and cladding projects.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to manage day-to-day site operations, including supervision of staff, liaising with contractors, and ensuring compliance with project timelines.
