Our client, a leading electrical engineering company based in Kendal, is seeking a proactive and organised Stores Operative to join their dynamic team. As a Stores Operative, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the operations in the stores department.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and check all deliveries
  • Purchase material orders and negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best prices
  • Monitor product availability and chase orders
  • Prepare purchase orders for materials and equipment needed for the company's production process
  • Resolve suppliers and staff material queries effectively
  • Organise materials for electricians and maintain stock levels
  • Process returns for unused/faulty items and manage credits from suppliers
  • Organise the stores and maintain accurate stock records
  • Manage plant hire, tools, and equipment maintenance/calibrations

Requirements:

  • Proficient in IT and Microsoft products
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised
  • Hardworking, reliable team player
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiation and organisational abilities
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Well-disciplined around health and safety
  • Willingness to learn new skills and products

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in an electrical wholesalers or good electrical product knowledge
  • Some experience in a warehouse or stock environment
