Finance ManagerLocation: South BirminghamSalary: Up to £60,000 (dependent on experience)

Robert Half is seeking a Qualified Finance Manager to join a well-established organisation in South Birmingham. This role is a key part of the UK Accounting team, providing exposure to all areas of finance and ensuring robust financial controls and accurate, timely reporting. The successful candidate will gain a comprehensive understanding of the business to prepare detailed accounts and offer operational insights while working closely with key stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Build and maintain relationships with business stakeholders to support financial objectives.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Manage the accounting team to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.
    • Provide day-to-day guidance to direct reports and delegate responsibilities effectively.
  • Monthly Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare detailed profit and loss accounts and balance sheets.
    • Post expenses, intercompany recharges, accruals, and prepayments.
    • Review and analyse monthly results, providing explanations for variances to budget or prior year.
    • Produce a balance sheet control pack with comprehensive financial, operational, and procedural controls.
  • Process Optimisation:
    • Identify and implement improvements to enhance efficiency in finance processes.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Oversee the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasts.
    • Maintain and update monthly budget files.
  • Daily Operations:
    • Ensure daily cashbook and bank reconciliations are completed.
    • Provide support to the Credit Control and Purchase Ledger teams with queries.
  • Asset & Fleet Management:
    • Manage company vehicle operations, including fuel cards, lease invoices, insurance claims, accident reporting, and vehicle procurement.
    • Oversee mobile phone and iPad asset management.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Prepare statutory accounts and tax packs for Group consolidation.
    • Maintain compliance with internal control submissions.
    • Manage VAT and IFRS16 submissions.
    • Maintain the fixed asset register and process capex requests.
  • Payroll Oversight:
    • Process monthly payroll submissions and perform variance analysis.
Candidate Profile
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years in a management accounting role.
    • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organisational and communication skills.
    • Exceptional attention to detail, numeracy, and Excel proficiency.
  • Qualifications:
    • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA).
