Role: General Foreman

Salary: Up to £60,000- £65,000

Location: Lichfield to Kenilworth sites (Birmingham based sites)

This client is seeking an experienced General Foreman with a background in civil engineering, particularly in roads, utilities, and groundworks, to join their team on a major infrastructure project in the Midlands. This is a long-term opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented professional who has hands-on experience in managing site activities on similar large-scale projects.

The ideal candidate will possess tier two experience and have a proven track record in site management, particularly in the civil engineering discipline, with a focus on roadworks, utility installations, and groundworks.

Responsibilities:

Safety:

  • Promote and maintain safe working practices on-site.
  • Implement company policies and legal requirements, with a focus on HSE legislation and quality standards.
  • Conduct and document site inspections.
  • Ensure all work aligns with approved method statements, conduct and revise risk assessments, and deliver toolbox talks/briefings.
  • Verify that site personnel have the necessary job-specific training and are recorded in the training register.
  • Lead by example to foster a culture of safety.

Management:

  • Ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Actively drive project progress, optimising methods to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and supervise daily activities of site teams.
  • Ensure teams complete all required documentation in accordance with customer and company standards.
  • Track and record daily production outputs.

Equipment and Materials Management:

  • Actively challenge equipment usage to minimise costs.
  • Order and manage both hired and internal equipment on a daily basis.
  • Coordinate the delivery and collection of materials as needed.

General Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and third parties as necessary.
  • Assist in promoting best practices.
  • Help represent the company to clients.

Key Measures & Targets:

  • Deliver services on time and meet cost and quality standards.
  • Contribute to the company's compliance with CDM and health and safety targets.
  • Support the company's environmental objectives.

Key Relationships:

  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams and other technical staff.
  • Work alongside project-based personnel, including Contracts Managers, Project Managers, Site Agents, and Site Engineers.
  • Engage with clients, suppliers, and other third parties.
