Company Overview:

My client are a leading concrete manufacturer in the UK, looking for a Health and Safety Manager to join their team in Coventry.

Role Overview:
As a Health and Safety Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations while driving continuous improvement in energy efficiency across our operations. This position reports directly to the Head of Health & Safety and requires a highly motivated individual who can manage multiple responsibilities with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation, providing up-to-date advice on changes in regulations.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, including assessments on Workplace, Equipment, Manual Handling, PPE, and Display Screen Equipment.
  • Carry out COSHH and Fire Risk Assessments.
  • Develop and implement safe working procedures and ensure all staff are trained in Health & Safety practices.
  • Investigate accidents, conduct root cause analysis, and support supervisors in accident investigations.
  • Perform Health & Safety inspections and monitor completion of actions.
  • Maintain Health & Safety and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14000 & ISO 45001).
  • Oversee internal and external audits and liaise with regulatory authorities.
  • Monitor energy usage and develop plans to maximise energy efficiency.
  • Attend monthly HSE manager meetings and share best practices across the business.

Requirements:

  • NEBOSH qualification or equivalent Health & Safety certification.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Health & Safety role within the Construction industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong report-writing skills.
  • Self-motivated with good time management and problem-solving skills.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of ISO Management Systems (ISO 14000 & ISO 45001).
