Overview

The Engineering Compliance Team plays a key role within our clients Network Operability department, responsible for ensuring that new and existing generators, wishing to connect to the Electricity Transmission system, meet the requirements of the grid code and associated connection agreements.

As a Senior Engineer you will provide expert guidance to generating companies in all areas of Engineering Compliance and will review and assess performance and test data submissions throughout all phases of new infrastructure projects, to ensure that grid code compliance requirements are met.

Key Accountabilities

  • Liaison with key customers - generator owners and manufacturers throughout the compliance process, providing expert guidance on all aspects of grid code compliance
  • Assess technical data submissions, plant simulation studies and the results from plant commissioning activities, to ensure they are compliant.
  • Investigate significant faults and events leading to loss of supply
  • Develop and validate network models, comparing the results of commissioning tests with the associated control system models.
  • Occasional site visits - to witness compliance testing activities
  • Support the ongoing development and maintenance of compliance guidance documents and internal procedures.

Skills and Qualifications

  • A working knowledge of existing and emerging generator and transmission system technologies and

  • An appreciation of the principles of power system planning and operation
  • Power system analysis experience / development and review of dynamic models
  • Familiarity with DIgSILENT PowerFactory / PSCAD would be advantageous
  • Degree in a Science, Technology and/or Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer / Member of relevant professional body
  • Knowledge of basic project management tools and techniques and good stakeholder management skills.
