Unix System Administrator (Non Cleared)

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Unix System Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and optimisation of our Unix-based systems, ensuring smooth operation and minimal downtime. Key Responsibilities:

Administer, configure, and maintain Unix-based systems (Linux, Polarise, AIX, etc.).
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve any hardware or software problems.
Implement and manage system backups, disaster recovery plans, and security measures.
Collaborate with development teams to support system upgrades, patches, and application deployments.
Automate tasks through scripting (e.g., Bash, Perl, Python).
Perform system tuning and capacity planning to ensure optimal performance.
Provide support during outages, with a focus on quick issue resolution.
Create and maintain detailed documentation for systems and processes.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Unix System Administrator or in a similar IT role.
Strong knowledge of Unix-based operating systems (Linux, AIX, Solaris, etc.).
Experience with system monitoring tools and diagnostic utilities.
Proficiency in shell scripting and automation tools.
Understanding of network protocols, security practices, and firewalls.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.).
Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM).
Certification in Unix or related technologies (e.g., Linux Professional Institute, RHCE).
