Teaching Assistant with Healthcare & SEN Experience - Secondary School (Year 10 & 11)

Location: Orpington, Bromley

Position: Full-Time, 1:1 Support

We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant with healthcare experience or SEN experience to provide vital support to students in Year 10 and 11 at our secondary school in the Kent Medway area. This role involves working closely with students who have an EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan), including supporting a student who may use a wheelchair. You will be helping students with their GCSEs in Maths and Science, both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to students with SEN, including those with physical disabilities
  • Assist students in accessing the curriculum, particularly in Maths and Science
  • Offer both inside and outside classroom support, ensuring students are fully engaged and participating in lessons and activities
  • Support students with their exam preparation and classroom tasks, offering guidance, encouragement, and emotional support
  • Assist with physical, personal care, and healthcare needs where required (including assisting wheelchair users)
  • Foster an inclusive, positive learning environment for all students

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Healthcare experience or previous experience in school-based SEN support (essential)
  • Experience working with students with SEN, particularly those with physical disabilities (experience with wheelchair users is a plus)
  • Strong understanding of EHCPs and how to support students in line with their individual needs
  • Ability to engage and motivate students with a good sense of humour and a positive, patient approach
  • Experience supporting students in Maths and Science at GCSE level is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for helping students succeed
