Location: Portinscale, Keswick, CA12 5RD

Salary: Grade 3 (SCP 7 - 11) £24,294 - £25,979 per annum

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week

The organisation is a busy, friendly Outdoor Education & Training Centre set in idyllic surroundings in Portinscale, just outside Keswick, Cumbria. They provide high quality residential outdoor education courses for schools, colleges and youth groups, as well as corporate training events and group accommodation for adults. They pride themselves on their flexibility, homely atmosphere, good food and inspiring setting.

The Role

The role of Chef is to provide nutritious and exciting meals for all their visiting clientele with all dietary requirements considered and catered for. Their Chefs are ambitious, enthusiastic and driven to create quality food, and work as part of a close-knit team. Their Chefs ensure the client’s needs are met, and centre standards are withheld, throughout all service and preparation.

At the organisation part of the experience for their clients is the enjoyment of healthy, filling meals throughout the day. Clients, especially their school visitors are often face to face and good relations are important.

The role requires their chefs to use their initiative to order stock and reporting any shortages or maintenance requirements to the Venue Manager. At the organisation their staff work closely across all departments, and they have an excellent ‘whole team’ spirit.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Good communication and a willingness to give support to the Head Chef and team members.
  • Strong customer relations and excellent people skills are necessary in the role of the Chef
  • Being proactive in ensuring that the statutory requirements pertaining to Health & Safety, Hygiene Standards and environmental health are consistently met to a high standard.
