Job Title:Pharmacy Dispenser

Job Overview:The Pharmacy Dispenser is responsible for assisting in the preparation and dispensing of medication to patients, ensuring accuracy and adherence to prescribed instructions. They work closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to provide efficient and high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Medication Dispensing:

    • Accurately prepare and dispense prescription medication as per doctor's instructions.

    • Label prescriptions with required information, including dosage and administration guidelines.

    • Ensure all dispensed medications are of the correct quantity, strength, and form.

  2. Patient Interaction:

    • Provide guidance to patients on the proper use of medications, side effects, and storage instructions.

    • Address patient inquiries or direct them to the pharmacist for more complex questions.

    • Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained in all interactions.

  3. Stock Management:

    • Monitor stock levels and inform the pharmacist of any shortages or discrepancies.

    • Assist in receiving, storing, and organizing pharmaceutical supplies.

    • Ensure medication is stored according to safety regulations and is kept within expiry dates.

  4. Compliance and Record Keeping:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all dispensed medications.

    • Follow legal and regulatory guidelines related to dispensing medications and handling controlled substances.

    • Ensure all prescriptions and patient interactions are documented according to organizational policies.

  5. Support to Pharmacist:

    • Assist the pharmacist in checking prescriptions for accuracy and appropriateness.

    • Support the pharmacist in preparing and managing orders, including stocktaking and ordering medications.

    • Contribute to administrative tasks within the pharmacy.

  6. Health and Safety:

    • Ensure the pharmacy environment is clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations.

    • Adhere to infection control practices and promote a safe environment for both patients and staff.

  7. Training and Development:

    • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated on pharmaceutical practices and regulations.

    • Mentor junior staff or trainees when required.

  • Experience:

    • Previous experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting is beneficial but not mandatory.
