TimePlan is working closely with a secondary school in Kettering seeking a full time Teaching Assistant to begin with them after Easter. The position is within a secondary setting and it will be as a learning support assistant across the school. The current LSA has just started their teacher training program, so a great school to work with to progress into teaching.

Duties

  • Assist the lead teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to the needs of each child
  • Provide support to the child during classroom activities, ensuring they are engaged and participating fully
  • Help with the care and supervision of children, promoting their social, emotional, and physical development
  • Work closely with children who have special educational needs, including those on the autism spectrum, to facilitate their learning and development
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to foster a positive learning environment
  • Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment, adhering to health and safety regulations
  • Assist in assessing children's progress and reporting any concerns to the lead teacher
  • Be flexible and cater to the child's need.

Skills

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with children and adults alike
  • Experience in SEND schools or a healthcare background is highly desirable
  • Ability to educate and inspire young learners through creative teaching methods
  • Familiarity with special education practices and strategies for working with children who have diverse learning needs
  • Previous experience working with children in various settings is advantageous
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children succeed in their educational journey.

Role Summary
Your role will be to provide support either in-class, 1:1 support or to small groups of students with varying abilities, you will be encouraging and supporting individual pupils to reach their full potential whilst demonstrating a creative and determined attitude that will help motivate students..
You will be directly supporting the students, as well as helping to organise the teaching and learning resources available to students and staff.
