Role: FURNITURE TESTING TECHNICIAN

Location: Kettering, UK

Salary: Up to £24,000 pro rata

Hours: 22.5 hrs per week

Our client has a part time vacancy for a Technician to work within their Furniture department.

This role is part-time, Monday to Friday 9.30am – 2.30pm.

The clients Furniture department is an international centre of excellence for furniture testing, training, consultancy and innovation. Thier expertise makes them a the premier technical partner for suppliers, manufacturers and retailers of furniture and its components.
They test against national, European and international standards, as well as key retailer specifications, to give our customers the confidence that their furniture is fit for purpose and safe to use.

Responsibilities

  • As a Furniture Technician you will be required to carry out the following:
  • Preparation and conditioning of furniture prior to testing
  • Testing and assisting with physical testing of mattresses, cabinets, tables and seating to British, European and international standards
  • Maintain cleanliness of laboratory areas including assisting others with moving furniture samples
  • Planning and agreeing testing schedules with customers and Head of Furniture
  • Completing and maintaining training records

About You

Successful candidates will be required to have the following skills and experience:

Essential

  • GCSE Maths, English & Science minimum Grade C (Grade 5 or above)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Good computer skills – word & Excel
  • Able to work to deadlines
  • Be able to follow instructions accurately & have a good attention to detail
  • Demonstrable experience of organisation and planning skills
  • Good time management and scheduling skills
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Flexibility, tenacity and a ‘can-do' attitude

Desirable

  • Experience working within the furniture industry
  • Experience in testing different types of consumer products
  • Forklift truck experience
