Catering Assistant/Chef
Hours - 5 days per week - 40 hours per week - Will require flexibility on shift times rotation wise 6am - 2pm, 2pm - 10.00pm
Pay Rate £11.44 per hour - £12.00 per hour

Day to Day Duties
1. Food Preparation:
- Assisting in the preparation of simple dishes (e.g., sandwiches, salads, or snacks).
- Ensuring ingredients and supplies are ready for use by chefs or cooks.
- Handling basic cooking tasks, such as reheating or assembling meals.
- 2. Food Service:
- Serving meals to warehouse employees, ensuring portions are appropriate.
- Replenishing food counters and self-service areas during busy times.
- Providing excellent customer service, responding to queries about food options or allergies.
- 3. Cleaning and Hygiene:
- Washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Cleaning and sanitizing food preparation and service areas to meet hygiene standards.
- Taking responsibility for waste disposal and recycling in the canteen.
- 4. Stock Management:
- Monitoring stock levels of food, beverages, and cleaning supplies.
- Assisting with deliveries by unpacking and storing ingredients properly.
- 5. Compliance and Safety:
- Adhering to food safety regulations and canteen-specific policies.
- Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Reporting maintenance issues with kitchen equipment or facilities.
- 6. Teamwork and Support:
- Assisting chefs, cooks, or supervisors with any additional tasks.
- Contributing to a positive working environment by collaborating with colleagues.
Essential Skills
- Basic understanding of food preparation techniques.
- Familiarity with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP guidelines).
- Awareness of proper food storage and handling procedures.
- Addressing customer queries or concerns about food options, dietary needs, or allergies.
- Ensuring a positive dining experience for employees.
- Managing tasks within tight deadlines, especially during peak times.
- Prioritizing duties, such as replenishing food counters or cleaning during shifts.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience working in a staff canteen or restaurant would be desirable
