ATA are working with an industry leader and specialist in the design and manufacturing of high-performance special purpose machinery for several industries and sectors. Our client pride themselves on the robust and innovative products that they provide to their customers and with over 70 years of industry experience in providing full turnkey solutions for their clients.

They are currently looking to employ a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic design working on multiple projects valued from £500k to £6 million. You will have the opportunity to work with industry experts and apply your skills within a successful team, reporting to the Head of Projects you will have an integral part in the successful completion of an increasing order book.

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work closely with the projects team on larger projects and work autonomously on smaller projects, you will have full responsibility from inception to completion.

The Mechanical Design Engineer key responsibility will be to:

  • Design using Solid Works CAD package, this will include 3D modelling and 2D general arrangement drawings.
  • Design site layout drawings, which will include walkways, platforms, and machinery.
  • Handle small individual projects from inception to completion, creating BOM’s and providing costing details.
  • Provide machinery, materials, and parts specification on projects,
  • Liaise with all functions of the business when required, this will include Production, assembly, and sub-contractors.
  • Occasional site visits for site surveys and measurements.

The Candidate

The Mechanical Design Engineer will have:

  • An Engineering qualification.
  • Sheetmetal fabrication experience.
  • A proven track record in a successful project structure.
  • A strong commercial mind with the ability to mitigate for risks.
