Reed Engineering are working with a fantastic Manufacturing company within the food industry.

Are you a Lead Engineer who has a technical mind in electrical maintenance however has the experience leading and managing a team. I am looking for someone who can make a significant impact by leading a team to support manufacturing operations. This role is crucial for managing engineering tasks during shifts, ensuring efficient resource allocation, and maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead and oversee a multidisciplinary engineering team on shift, ensuring effective coordination, prioritisation, and resource allocation.
  • Supervise and mentor engineers, focusing on their development, conducting performance reviews, and handling disciplinary matters.
  • Provide immediate engineering support to production, swiftly resolving breakdowns and addressing priority issues.
  • Prepare comprehensive shift reports that offer insights into manufacturing and engineering operations.
  • Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and food safety standards within the team.
  • Manage permit to work activities to maintain safety and efficiency.
  • Offer hands-on assistance for equipment troubleshooting and guide the team in effective problem-solving.
  • Leverage extensive engineering knowledge to instruct team members on asset use and maintenance.
  • Promote and implement improvements in asset reliability and engineering processes.
  • Facilitate training for operators on basic engineering tasks and mentor engineering apprentices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Proficient in the use of CMMS Systems.
  • Experience in facilitating improvement processes with continuous improvement programs such as Lean, TPM, and RCA (root cause analysis).
  • Previous leadership experience managing a small team.
  • Proven capability to educate and train staff members across all levels.
  • Ability to self-manage and prioritise multiple tasks effectively.

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with risk-based maintenance methods such as RCM, FMEA, and ABC criticality.
  • Experience in the food or process industry.
  • Knowledge of DSEAR compliance.
