Role: Technical Lead - Footwear testing
Location: Kettering
Salary: up to £38,000.00 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hrs per week


Our client based in Kettering has a new opportunity for a Technical Lead within their Footwear department. The Technical lead will lead and supervise a team of technologists and technicians in the Footwear Testing team ensuring compliance with quality standards, enhancing the clients brand and reputation.

As a Technical Lead your key responsibilities will include:

  • Daily supervision of Technicians
  • Team performance management (appraisals, disciplinary and grievance matters)
  • Managing workflow through department with emphasis on customer focus and customer awareness
  • Working with Technicians to establish deadlines and allocate jobs fairly
  • Ensure effective implementation of quality systems (working with Quality Manager and Health and Safety Advisor)
  • Create and implement staff training plans
  • Development of continuous improvement initiatives with both systems of work and individuals
  • Establish and monitor department's KPIs
  • Discussing results and new work with customers
  • Routine drafting/sending reports and responding to customer emails
  • Meeting customers and presenting seminars
  • Contributing to writing of technical articles for internal and external publication
  • Overseas travel when required

About You

Essential

  • Educated to A Level in Maths or Science•
  • Familiar with physical testing techniques
  • Demonstrated organisation and planning skills
  • Supervisory experience
  • Customer facing experience
  • Confident presenter
  • Excellent time management and scheduling skills
  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Ability to work on own and as part of a team
  • Highly motivated
  • Problem solving and logical thinking
  • Willingness to travel

Desirable

  • Completion of SAFT course or working towards completion
  • Degree in Maths or Science
  • Experience within a commercial environment
  • Full, clean driving licence
  • Experience of direct Sales and Marketing with exposure to business development tools and techniques
  • Footwear industry experience
