Service Care Solutions is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Legal and Monitoring Officer for a local authority in Northamptonshire.
The role offers a daily rate of £490 to £630 umbrella, which is negotiable.
Candidates must have monitoring officer experience and a background in unitary authorities, particularly in Children’s Services.
Key responsibilities include providing legal advice, overseeing high-profile cases, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
The position is a 3-month ongoing contract with hybrid working and flexible hours.

Service Care Solutions is working alongside of growing local authority, based in Northamptonshire, which needs an experienced Assistant Director of Legal and Monitoring Officer to spearhead their team.ROLE: Assistant Director of Legal and Monitoring OfficerRATE: £490 to £630per day umbrella – negotiableLOCATION: Northamptonshire - Attendance at Council meetings – every 2 months, but flexible/remote other than thatCONTRACT: 3 month ongoingKey Responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Legal role:

Providing high quality legal advice to the Council, Chief Officers and Elected Members.
Provide effective decision making, meet statutory requirements and ensure good general practice.
Leading the effective planning, organisation, delivery and continuous improvement and efficiency of all related services, resources and allocated budgets, through service delivery, efficiency and improvement plans as required.

Key Requirements:

Monitoring Officer experience is essential. Unitary experience as have Children’s Services within remit – no District only experience.
Experience of providing high quality legal advice to the Council, Chief Officers and Elected Members.
Experience of overseeing a wide range of sensitive and high-profile cases including new initiatives, policy development, major projects, constitutional issues, standards, ethics, corporate governance, corporate legal issues and other complex administrative areas of public law.
