As a skilled member of the production team, you will be able to design, model, program (on-line and off-line) and manufacture a wide range of precision components using CNC milling machines with Heidenhain (essential) & Mazak controllers and CNC lathe with Fanuc controller.

About the role:

In addition, you will be able to design, make, set and prove out fixtures and jigs, to efficiently produce high quality components to customer specification.

You undertake all activities with due regard for the health and safety for yourself and others and you can perform to agreed standards in respect of safety, with a commitment to quality, customer service and value. Engagement with Continuous Improvement activity is expected as part of normal business activities.

Job Dimensions

  • Multi-skilled: Fully capable on all aspects of CAD/CAM design, programming, set up and operation of all machines and metrology.
  • Semi-skilled: Capable of operating all machines.
  • Metrology: Capable on CMM and all other instrumentation and measurement devices.

  • Manufacturing ONC/HNC or equivalent

Main duties;

  • Ensure all production and operational tasks are carried out in accordance with the appropriate risk assessments and safe operating procedures and with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • Program (online & offline), set-up, prove out and operate various CNC milling machines (Heidenhain (essential) & Mazak controller), CNC Lathe (Fanuc controller), CMM and other instrumentation measurement devices to produce components to customer requirements and to company standards for safety, quality, service and value.
  • Design, develop and produce effective jigs, fixtures and work holding assemblies to ensure optimum manufacturing conditions for quality and productivity.
  • Design and model components using CAD/CAM software program (PowerMill, PowerShape) to meet customer specifications.
  • Ensure all tasks are carried out in accordance with company processes and systems at all times (ISO9001, 123 Insight).
  • Focus on precision quality to achieve customer specification for tolerances and finishing.
  • Focus on customer delivery by achieving set up and machining times to achieve works order deadlines.
  • Focus on reliability by carrying out various daily, weekly and monthly machine maintenance procedures.
  • Focus on value through the reduction of rework and the effective use of tooling.
  • Attend daily/weekly production meetings and monthly/quarterly team briefs.
  • Undertake tasks and small projects as part of the Continuous Improvement activity to support the annual cost improvement program to exploit opportunities to reduce waste, optimize costs and improve operational performance.
  • Undertake personal development and training, as agreed with the Managing Director / Production Manager, to ensure that skills development supports the business strategy.
