About the Role
My client is seeking an experiencedFood Ingredient Buyerto join their procurement team based inKidderminster. This role is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing high-quality food ingredients while ensuring cost efficiency and supplier reliability. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of food industry trends, supplier relationships, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and purchase food ingredients in line with company quality, cost, and sustainability standards
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability and cost-effectiveness
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers
- Monitor market trends, supply chain risks, and ingredient availability
- Manage inventory levels and optimize procurement strategies
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and company policies
- Identify and evaluate new ingredient suppliers to enhance product offerings
- Analyse purchasing data to improve cost savings and procurement efficiency
Requirements
- Proven experience as aBuyer/Purchasing Specialistin the food industry
- Strong knowledge of food ingredients, supply chain management, and procurement processes
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to analyse market trends and make data-driven purchasing decisions
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and supplier audits
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement software
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
