Paint Technician

Are you an experienced Paint Technician? Would you like to work in a modern factory with state of the art manufacturing techniques producing Railway Rolling Stock?

If so, we are looking to place you in our clients facility based in Newton Aycliffe. As a suitable candidate, you will be able to demonstrate preparation of area surfaces in readiness for painting (wash, degrease, primer and sanding). Paint finishing activities including full body spraying and polish. Painting of metallic and 3 stage pearls. You will also show an aptitude for colour identification including mixing and product ratio when ordering paints, hardeners and thinners.

Working hours -

Monday to Friday day shift 07:00 - 15:00

back shift 15:00 - 23:00

1 week rotation

Pay -

£20.59 p/h day shift

£24.71 p/h back shift

Overtime Monday - Saturday £30.88 p/h

Overtime Sunday - £41.18 p/h

Other essential requirements will include but not limited to;

  • Able to perform all paint / finishing tasks from preparation to finished car body.
  • Able to complete all paint repairs to a high standard.
  • Focusing on creating a high quality finished product.
  • Knowledge and understanding of all health and safety requirements of working in a painting environment.
  • Ability to work unsupervised - able to make decisive, informed decisions within the paint environment.
  • Excellent dexterity and coordination.
  • High level of accuracy / excellent attention to detail.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to deliver to schedule.
  • A willingness to work flexibly including different work patterns and shift work.
  • Commitment to working as part of a team.
  • Maintaining good eyesight.
  • Being professional and responsible for the work area.
  • Strong interpersonal / communication skills at all levels.
  • Ability to learn new skills to a high standard and deliver training to colleagues.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Work closely with and support the Section Leader.
  • Willing to learn new job skills - Kaizen, 5S and participate in improvement activities.
  • Have a 'Can do' attitude to supporting both painting and working with other functions.
  • Previous experience of working within a team environment.

Qualifications

  • Desirable: Level 3 Motor Vehicle Body Repair, Paint and Refinishing or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience in painting rolling stock or equivalent.
  • Significant relevant experience.
  • Train the trainer qualification or relevant training experience.
