We have an opportunity available for a Delivery Driver to join the Central Services Department at Thames Valley Police HQ in Kidlington, South.

This is a temporary role, ongoing role. This role is up to 37 hours per week - you will not have set hours for this role, the Force may require your assistance on an adhoc basis.

The rate is £12.57 per hour.

The overall purpose of the role is to: Provide an efficient, effective and secure logistical service; collecting and delivering postal bags, evidential material, crates and other items across the Force.

CRITERIA:

  • A CLEAN FULL UK DRIVERS LICENCE
  • DUE TO POLICE CRITERIA, YOU MUST HAVE LIVED IN THE UL FOR AT LEAST THE LAST 3 YEARS CONTINUOUSLY.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY AREAS:

  • Responsible for driving a Force dispatch vehicle to designated locations.
  • Liaise with the HQ Postal team to be fully briefed on the deliveries for that day.
  • Apply any appropriate security measures / handling procedures required to ensure the transportation of any specialist / sensitive items (e.g. Forensics, NABIS guns, sensitive documents etc) are managed in line with Force Policy, ensuring the evidential chain is protected. This may involve secure boxes in the vans, or storage of items in fridges. Obtain signatures where these may be required.
  • Complete vehicle checks in line with Force Policy to ensure the dispatch vehicles remain safe and secure to drive. Report any issues discovered to the Postal Supervisor.
  • Maintain knowledge of entire Force area to ensure any route can be driven as required.
