We are seeking a Lead Chef to join one of our schools in the Oxfordshire area on a temporary basis. As a Lead Chef, you will be part of a fast-paced secondary school kitchen environment, supporting the existing Chef Manager and six Catering Assistants in all aspects of food preparation and delivery to students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook meals using fresh ingredients.
  • Support the Chef Manager in creating new menus and innovative food concepts.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene, complying with Food Handling Hygiene and Health and Safety regulations.
  • Monitor kitchen stock and supplies.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • NVQ Food Hygiene Level 3.
  • NVQ Training in Catering Level 3.
  • Commitment to further training and development if the above qualifications are not already held.
  • Computer literacy skills (Microsoft Word, some knowledge of Excel).
  • Confidence and initiative to work independently as well as part of a team.

As this role is based on a school site, appropriate safeguarding and vetting checks, including a criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service, will be conducted for the right candidate.
