About Oxford Food Hub:

Oxford Food Hub is a pivotal organisation in the sourcing and redistribution of surplus food across Oxfordshire, assisting over 200 charities and community groups. The mission is to continue providing this essential service at no cost to suppliers and charities, with a commitment to environmental sustainability and community support

Role Overview:

The CEO will provide strategic and tactical leadership to Oxford Food Hub, guiding the organisation through its next phase of growth. This role is critical in enhancing the Hub's impact, expanding its operational capacity, and securing financial sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership and Vision:

  • Strategic Planning - Leading on the delivery of the strategic plan
  • Visionary Leadership by championing a clear vision
  • Market Analysis and Adaptation including food surplus sources and trends
  • Employee & Volunteer Engagement

Operational Excellence and Capacity Building:

  • Drive improvements in operational efficiency, logistics, and food redistribution
  • Capacity Expansion and network expansion
  • Operational Performance including achieving operational targets and effective management of a predominantly volunteer workforce.

Financial Sustainability and Resource Mobilisation:

  • Income Generation - Diversify and strengthen funding sources
  • Resource Allocation
  • Financial Stewardship and robust financial management

Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy:

  • Community and Stakeholder Relations - Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Advocacy and Public Relations: Serve as the public face of Oxford Food Hub,
  • Partnership Development: Forge strategic partnerships that enhance the Hub's reach and impact

Governance and Compliance:

  • Board Collaboration: Work closely with the Board of Trustees
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the organisation adheres to all relevant legal, regulatory, and ethical standards
  • Risk Management: Develop and implement risk management strategies

Experience:

  • Extensive experience in a senior leadership role within the charity, private, non-profit, or food redistribution sectors, with a proven track record of strategic planning and organisational growth.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex operations, including logistics and supply chain management, ideally in the food or related sector.
  • Excellent line management skills with proven experience of developing a high performing team and building strong relationships with volunteers.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience in developing diverse funding streams.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and public speaking skills, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of the UK's regulatory environment for food redistribution and charitable activities.
  • A passionate advocate for environmental sustainability, food security, and community well-being.
