Software Engineer - Cloud & Connectivity

Location: Hybrid (Oxford) | Experience: 5+ years

They are seeking a Software Engineer to join their experienced team and play a key role in developing our transformative laser communications technology. You'll be responsible for connecting the optical ground stations to the cloud, enabling remote operations, and integrating with wider satellite and communications systems. This role involves close collaboration with the software and systems engineering teams.

Your Responsibilities
  • Develop cloud connectivity for optical ground stations.
  • Build dashboards and user interfaces for remote station operation.
  • Design and deploy APIs and algorithms for external system interactions.
  • Define and implement cloud architectures and services for next-generation communication products.
What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Experience in IoT system integration, protocols, and services (gRPC, MQTT).
  • Cloud architecture expertise, including dashboards, databases, APIs, and security/authentication for IoT systems.
  • Linux development with Python.
  • 5+ years of commercial experience.

Desirable:

  • Experience with service deployment (IaC, containers, Docker).
  • Knowledge of WAN networking and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, scripting, and automation.
  • Interest or experience in the space industry.
  • System modeling expertise (Matlab, Simulink).
  • AI/ML applications, particularly for optimization.
