A client in Didcot is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on industrial automation and special-purpose machinery.
The role requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in the relevant field and with 3D CAD, ideally SolidWorks.
Key responsibilities include designing mechanical systems, developing pneumatic designs, and ensuring compliance with global standards.
The position offers an opportunity to participate in the IET Chartered engineering CPD Scheme to achieve Chartered Engineer status.

I’m working with a client in Didcot who’s looking for an enthusiastic Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in industrial automation and special-purpose machinery.

Opportunity to follow IET Chartered engineering CPD Scheme to gain fully Chartered Engineer status.

This role involves designing mechanical systems for small retro-fit camera systems and large industrial automation machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

Design mechanical systems and schematics in SolidWorks.
Develop pneumatic designs, including concepts and schematics.
Specify components and create renders for sales and marketing.
Ensure drawings meet global standards.
Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver projects on time.
Assist with hands-on mechanical builds as needed.

Required Skills:

Essential:

3+ years in industrial automation or special purpose machine design.
3+ years of experience with 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering (2.1 or above).
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Desirable:

Experience with machine vision systems and rendering software.
Familiarity with 3D printing.
