Mechanical Design Contractor – Outside IR35 (Automation Focus)

Recruit 12 are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer Contractor to join our client, working on cutting-edge automation projects on an initial 3 month contract, Outside IR35.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and development of innovative automated systems, with a focus on high-precision machinery and mechanical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the mechanical design of automation systems, including material handling equipment, robotic systems, and custom machinery.
  • Develop detailed CAD models, 2D drawings, and schematics using industry-standard software.
  • Collaborate with electrical, control, and software engineers to integrate mechanical solutions into fully automated systems.
  • Provide design solutions for manufacturability, assembly, and efficiency.
  • Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Support the fabrication and testing of prototypes to validate designs.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven expertise in mechanical design, ideally with a focus on automation systems, robotics, or manufacturing automation.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Experience with designing complex mechanical assemblies for automated systems.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work autonomously, with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with engineering documentation, change control, and project lifecycle management.

  • IR35 Status: Outside IR35.
