Qualified Social Worker - Unaccompanied Children and Young People's Team (UCYP)

Location: OxfordshireSalary: £35,745 - £42,403 per annum (Grade 10-11)Hours: 37 hours per weekContract Type: PermanentHybrid Working: only 1 day a week in office

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of unaccompanied children and young people? Join our dedicated Unaccompanied Children and Young People's Team (UCYP) in Oxfordshire, where you'll play a vital role in supporting some of the most vulnerable children in our community.

The UCYP Team provides care and support to unaccompanied children and young people, including care leavers. As a Social Worker in this team, you will:

• Take responsibility for your own caseload, completing statutory duties within required timescales.
• Respond to newly arrived children as part of the duty pod, conducting front-door assessments to ensure appropriate services are in place.
• Develop and implement care plans and permanency plans, working collaboratively with children, young people, families, and partner agencies.
• Undertake assessments, including age and human rights assessments, in a timely and sensitive manner.
• Ensure the health, education, and special needs of children are met to improve their life chances.
• Work closely with foster carers, personal advisors, interpreters, and other professionals to provide tailored support.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and local policies.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

Essential Criteria:

• A recognised Social Work qualification (B.A. Hons Degree, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent).
• Current registration with Social Work England.
• Experience working with unaccompanied children and young people or in a related field.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals.
• Excellent analytical, risk assessment, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to produce high-quality written work, including reports and assessments, within deadlines.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Flexibility and resilience to work in a busy and sometimes challenging environment.
• A valid driving licence and ability to travel independently to various locations.
