About the Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with our SEN Coordinator and class teachers to provide tailored support for students with a range of needs. You'll be helping students both in and out of the classroom, assisting with academic work, social integration, and personal development. This role is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of young learners, providing them with the encouragement and tools they need to thrive in a school environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group support to students with SEN, helping them to engage with learning materials and participate fully in class activities.
  • Adapt lesson materials and resources to meet individual student needs, ensuring accessible learning for every child.
  • Support students' social and emotional development, encouraging positive behavior and promoting confidence in both learning and social situations.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to develop and implement personalized support strategies and learning plans.
  • Assist with sensory or physical needs, ensuring a comfortable, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and document student progress, providing feedback to the SEN Coordinator and contributing to progress reports and reviews.
  • Promote inclusivity and respect, helping students with SEN build positive relationships with peers and fully integrate into school life.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with SEN, either in a school or similar setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Adaptability and creativity to modify learning activities and address unique needs effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, but also independently when needed.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN (desirable but not essential).
