Nursery Operations Manager

Co. Kilkenny, Ireland

Want to find something where you can directly make a difference? Somewhere with the opportunity to be promoted internally?

Ready to work for a company who are known for innovation?

What's the role?

This brand-new role will see you being a part of a well-established, respectful young plant business.

Their reputation, innovation and collaboration across the industry are well-recognised, and with succession plans in place, internal promotion is definitely on the cards.

You'll be there to run the day-to-day operations across 2 sites. From propagation, to dispatch, you'll be the point of contact.

This will be a team of up to 35 at peak, including specialist growers and seasonal workers.

To start, you'll be there to review current processes, create and implement processes and develop the team further.

You'll be there to pass on your propagation expertise and use this knowledge to develop processes further. This expertise will mean you can confidently create production plans, biological and chemical programmes and more.

Whether you hit the ground running, or need a bit of support to begin with, budgets and strategy reviews will be part of this role. You'll be at the forefront of producing brand-new varieties on a commercial scale.

What do I need?

You'll have strong experience in commercial nurseries and knowledge of plant production. This role is focused on high-volume, commercial growing and whilst they have a separate R&D team that you'll collaborate with, your primary focus is commercial production.

Ideally, this expertise will be in propagation, with an understanding of seed sowing, propagation management, cuttings etc. This could be in any crop - those core skills are transferrable.

You'll thrive in people management and be looking for the opportunity to pass this knowledge to your team.

You'll be able to spot the opportunities to make a process 5% better and be confident to implement these.
