Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to oversee cable jointing and laying operations within the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in high-voltage (HV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV) systems, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Supervision: Oversee the installation, jointing, and laying of HV and EHV cables, ensuring compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and coordinate a team of technicians, cable jointers, and subcontractors, promoting a culture of safety and collaboration.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct site inspections, ensuring all work meets regulatory and company quality standards.
  • Health & Safety: Enforce adherence to HSE policies and best practices, mitigating risks and ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with project managers, engineers, and clients to provide progress updates and address potential challenges.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of site activities, inspections, and compliance audits.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to cable installation and jointing processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years' supervisory experience in the T&D sector, particularly in cable jointing and laying.
  • Certifications: Recognised qualifications in electrical engineering or relevant field; certification in HV/EHV cable jointing is highly desirable.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of cable installation techniques, jointing methods, and T&D infrastructure.
  • Compliance Awareness: Familiarity with relevant British Standards (e.g., BS 6622, BS 7917) and international regulations.
  • IT Skills: Proficiency in project management and reporting software is advantageous.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
