Job Purpose

The role holder has responsibility for identifying and recording learning support needs and establishing learners’ normal way of working. They will take ownership of assessing for exam access arrangements and completion of all relevant forms. The post holder will work as part of the Learning Support Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for carrying out Exam Access Arrangements and recommendations in compliance with JCQ regulations, with completion of relevant forms for application for reasonable adjustment during exams.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date with JCQ updates and changes relevant to exam access arrangements.
  • Responsible for ensuring that full supporting evidence to support the normal way of working is available, with accurate records maintained to a high standard to support inspections and audits, internally and externally.
  • Monitor additional learning support interventions which are effective in eradicating the barriers to learning for all learners identified as requiring additional support.
  • Complete funding evidence forms ensuring evidence requirements can be met to enable claiming of available funding from the relevant funding bodies.
  • Liaise with learners, parents, local authorities, previous schools and colleges regarding learners’ previous attainment and support needs to understand and carry forward the critical support requirements of learners.
  • Work closely with the Apprenticeship Development Coaches and participate in the learner periodic review process.
  • Work as a member of the learning support team, adopting a flexible and adaptable approach, assisting the team when needed.
  • Research and keep up to-to-date with JCQ updates and learning support developments and innovations with a personal commitment to keeping professional knowledge up to date and improving own capabilities and maintaining compliance within the College for additional learning needs.
  • Keep up to date with innovations in additional learning support.
  • Follow all safeguarding policies and practices and be responsible for fostering a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment where all learners feel safe, included and supported.
  • Ensure that all learners work safely and always follow all health and safety rules and regulations.
  • Always display positive behaviours and attitudes to colleagues and learners.

Knowledge & Experience:

Essential:

  • Level 7 or equivalent qualification in Exam Access Arrangements Assessment, compliant with the current Joint Council for Qualifications requirements for Exams Access Arrangements Assessors
  • Thorough understanding of the current edition of the JCQ rules for Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments, including the principles, procedures and accountabilities involved.
  • Knowledge and understanding of learning support related ESFA funding requirements
  • Confidence to advise and challenge on all aspects relating to additional learning support
  • Minimum Level 2 maths and English
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage own workload
  • Excellent IT skills including Office 365 Word and Excel

Desirable

  • Previous experience with an apprenticeship provider
  • Coaching qualification and/or experience
  • Knowledge and experience of learning support funding requirements
