Financial Controller – 6 Month Fixed-Term Contract

Reed Finance Norwich are delighted to be recruiting for an interim Financial Controller to join our client based in King’s Lynn on a 6-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will join this business on a fixed-term basis to support with a new accountancy software implementation. They will also oversee the daily operations of the companies accounting department and ensure financial stability across the business.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Oversee daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Assist in preparing financial statements and reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, including GAAP, IFRS, and tax laws.
  • Support the Finance team in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Monitor and analyse financial performance, providing insights to senior management.
  • Coordinate audits, liaise with external auditors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Develop and maintain internal control systems to safeguard company assets.
  • Complete month-end tasks such as closing various ledgers, monthly bank reconciliations, and postings of manual journals.
  • Manage and mentor the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams.
  • Handle monthly external reconciliations of the Invoice Finance function and annual audits.
  • Manage monthly employee payroll for the company, ensuring accuracy and timely submission to the payroll company.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations (GAAP, IFRS).
  • Proficiency in financial software.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and management skills.
  • Ability to mentor and lead a team effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with various stakeholders.
