Are you an experienced Repairs Officer ready to lead a high-performing trade team and deliver exceptional maintenance services? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading social housing sector in King's Lynn on a 6-month interim basis, starting mid-April 2025. Offering a competitive day rate of £568 via umbrella (Inside IR35), this role requires a minimum of 4 days per week on-site, with 1 day flexible.
Your Role:As the Repairs Officer for our Direct Labour Organisation (DLO), you'll drive the delivery of a top-quality repairs and maintenance programme. Managing a team of 15+ trade operatives, you'll ensure our homes are maintained to the highest standards, providing value for money and an exceptional customer experience. This is a key leadership role within our Home and Community Maintenance team, focused on performance, safety, and continuous improvement.
Your Responsibilities:- Lead the day-to-day management of DLO trade teams, overseeing repairs, surveys, and works to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery.
- Conduct property surveys, specify works (including insurance and adaptation repairs), and monitor progress to completion.
- Manage budgets, performance, and resources to achieve key targets and drive value for money.
- Foster a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, including monthly audits and risk assessments.
- Develop and motivate your team, promoting a customer-first approach and continuous service improvement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, resolve complaints, and represent the DLO in strategic and operational discussions.
- Utilise IT systems (provided, including home working kit) to maintain accurate records and shape service delivery through data insights.
Requirements:
- Proven experience managing repairs teams to high customer satisfaction standards in housing or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of building construction, repairs processes, and current housing legislation.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to prioritise and problem-solve under pressure.
- Demonstrable skills in budget management, performance monitoring, and delivering value for money.
- Qualifications such as an HND in Building Construction/Surveying (or equivalent) and a NEBOSH Certificate (or similar) in Health and Safety.
- A full UK driving license.
Desirable:
- Professional qualification (e.g., CIOB or RICS).
- Experience in social housing repairs or managing multi-disciplinary teams.
