The Role:

As the HR Business Partner (Operations), you'll lead a operational HR team to deliver a progressive, proactive people service rooted in innovation, insight, and best practice. You'll champion colleague engagement, foster a performance-driven culture, and partner with leaders to create a great place to work-all while navigating change management initiatives, such as structural reorganisations, with confidence and expertise.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Lead and inspire the HR team to deliver forward-thinking priorities, blending proactive strategies with responsive support, and leveraging modern technology to streamline processes.
  • Empower colleagues with seamless access to top-notch HR services, promoting self-service where it adds value.
  • Drive the use of systems to minimise admin, maintain high-quality data, and generate insights that shape service improvements and strategic people agendas.
  • Support the development of a learning culture, overseeing innovative training solutions, and embed an engaging performance management process with two-way feedback.
  • Provide expert guidance to leaders on HR matters-think coaching, policy interpretation, and employment law-while managing relationships with unions and external legal advisors.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding with a focus on best practice, ensuring colleagues feel welcomed and valued from day one to their final goodbye.
  • Contribute to pay, reward, and benefits strategies, offering research and insights to inform decisions.
  • Monitor HR trends, KPIs, and demand data, using this to propose enhancements and elevate the employee experience.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience delivering contemporary HR services, including systems implementation and tech-driven solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, best practice, and innovative HR approaches, with the ability to advise at all levels.
  • Expertise in change management-think organisational restructures or process overhauls-delivered with a strategic mindset.
  • Chartered CIPD membership (or equivalent experience) and a track record of leading and motivating a team.
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, and coaching skills, paired with the ability to manage budgets and mitigate risks.
  • A curious, can-do attitude-resilient, pragmatic, and always eager to innovate.
Desirable:
  • Experience in a regulated or people-centric sector.
  • Familiarity with developing EDI (equality, diversity, and inclusion) initiatives.
